connect your alarm clock to a wall outlet, then to your skin...
that should wake you up and you won't even need coffee.

If you are not waking up to your alarm, maybe it's your body's way of telling you that you aren't getting enough sleep. Try going to bed earlier or getting a louder alarm clock. If you have a cell phone with and alarm on it, try setting it too. If you hear the cell phone, maybe something in your brain during your sleep will recognize the sound of the phone ringing and you will wake up to answer it. Good luck.

I used to sleep through my alarm too...so I tuned my stereo system to the Spanish station that plays mariachi music and then I set the timer on the system to go on at the same time as my alarm. This wasn't a little clock radio either; I'm talking about a Yamaha stereo system in an entertainment center. Don't get me wrong, I like mariachi music...but when it's blasting at 6am, it gets you up!

This is going to sound too easy, but it works for me. Before I go to sleep, I tell myself what time I need to get up, and my eyes just pop open at the designated time. Every, single time. I haven't used an alarm clock for years. Try it on the weekend, or your next day off, and see if it works for you.

Yes, sunlight will help, but any light will do. As soon as you wake up, turn on a light or lights, in every room you're going to be in. Light stimulates the brain and your eyes, telling your brain it's time to wake up. Think of sleeping as putting your computer into hibernate. Nothing's running except a few subsystems, but when you bring it out of hibernation, it has to reload everything and continue where it left off. A shower helps becuase your body temp. drops when you sleep, so the warm water helps to bring that temp back up. And eating just gives your body the fuel it needs to actually move after it's been sleeping for so long.

Yeah. There are some alarm clocks that just go bee-beep-beep-beep-beep. This consistent sound is so bad cause it is so easy to sleep through. I have witnessed many pple miss class because of those sucky alarms.
The best ones go tut-tut-tut-tut (then a short pause)-tut-tut-tut-tut (short pause)-tut-tut-tut-tut (short pause)....and so on.
These are the best. I don't know why but they work the best with the brain. Just remember to replace the batteries after each semester if u r a student. And whatever you do, don't drop them. They tend to be fragile.
The other thing is that you need to understand yourself. Do you take time to wake up? If so, get 2 alarms. Put them both away from your bed so that you have to get out of bed to turn them off. Then set them 5 minutes apart. When the first one goes off, get out of bed, turn it off and then go back and snooze for 5 minutes. When the next one goes off, turn it off but don't go back to bed. Just sit on the bed and slowly wake up. Don't even lie on the bed. You might go back to sleep. Also, turn on the light so that ir makes you wake up. Then after about 1-2 minutes, brush your teeth and you'll be up.

Well for me, I have 3 alarms that are set, and I timed it so one goes on, just as I turn off the one before it.

also adding to what others have said..put the alarm / cell phone or w.e far away from you...like on the other side of the room so the only way u can turn it off is if u get up. that helped me alot. =)
