Unless you have done some damage that will require surgery...which is rare.....when you have a pinched nerve...it is your body telling you....*slow down!* Listen to it and don't do things that will further aggravate it. Take some good pain reliever such as Motrin....or ask you doc to prescribe some muscle relaxers....sometimes they will give you a cocktail of vicoden and flexeril...plan to zone out, you will have no choice. Rest, relax, and apply warm heat.....even a warm damp towel will help.

If the pinched nerve persists you may need to go get an MRI to see what is causing the pain, but most of the time chilling out for a while will do the trick. One other thing....you did not mention where the pinched nerve is....if it is in the neck...you may need a neck brace to immobilize it while you heal...if it is in your back, make sure that you do not kick back in a recliner....those are horrible for you back when it is injured. Best of luck and get well soon!

I was scheduled for neck surgery due to a pinched nerve affecting my Right arm. I had loss of function as well as numbness. About 3 weeks before surgery I got sick and had to have an emergency lung biopsy, This meant I spent almost a month in the recliner healing. Surprise but my neck completely cleared up and has never recured &8 years ago.) my advice, try and take some time off and rent alot of dvds and stay still for a couple of weeks. If your lucky and can afford it sitting on the beach in the Bahamas drinking Pina Coladas would work well.

I'm a nurse. You could simply take a pain medication, have some therapy, or even surgery if all fails. I would see the doctor for medication preferably muscle relaxants. Take care.

Pain medicine. Lots of wet heat. Visits to the chiropractor. Or, if you're stubborn, just wait it out.
