it comes from the old german phrase: "I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers"
what it means is she is so exciting to me that even the bad habit of eating in bed and potentially dropping cracker crumbs which itch into the sheets is not reason enough to kick her out

A cracker is delicious and though it's light and fragile, it's different from sex because it's a one-way relationship. Both relationships with crackers and sex with people can be destructive, but with crackers the relationship is automatically destructive, whereas sex can be healthy and positive for both parties.

Salt is not usually a component of sex.

well I suppose if you only have crackers when you have sex, and you only have sex when you have crackers, then it would be very difficult to tell the difference.

but usually you have to buy the girl a cracker before you can have sex with her.

it is not embarassing when you're caught sharing a cracker with 2 more people.
