I read a memoir entitled "The Cage: An Englishman in Vietnam" by Tom Abraham and loved it. Any other good ones?

Another good memoir, apart from 'Band of Brothers', is author Robert Leckie's 'Helmet for my Pillow'. It is a best-selling account of the Marines in the Pacific, and will help take you away from the European theatre of war. At just over 300 pages, it's a good read!

p.s. I have a few more, so let me know if you want more.

Most of Stephen Ambrose's other books, including D-Day. Also Alex Kershaw has 3 books on WW2, The Bedford Boys, The Longest Winter, and The Few.

"See Here, Private Hargrove," by Marion Hargrove. It's actually not so much of a war story as the story of a soldier leading up to and right after the declaration of war. It was very popular during WW2, as being the story of a "dogface soldier" rather than about generals and strategies.
