County Clerk's Office in the city where he was born
they might issue you a "copy". Otherwise, ask him
if you might borrow it for one day and tell him why you
need it.

You don't need anyone's birth certificate to collect SSI, unless you're trying to get it for him. What the hell is B/43?
Even if you were/are married to him (or anyone else), they don't need his birth certificate.
If you're talking about SSI (Supplemental Security Income), that is for you if you become disabled and cannot work. If you're talking about a death benefit, you are not entitled to one. His children may be, but not you. If that's the case, follow the advice above and contact the City Hall/courthouse where he was born.

If you know your ex's date of birth and place of birth, then it should be no problem. If it is local to you go to either the town hall, or the state capital, and inquire how to get it. If it is some distance away, call the town clerk's office of the town where he was born, and inquire, as to how you would go about obtaining this information. It may cost you a few dollars, but it is a public record, and you can not be denied a copy. You should also inquire of SSI, as to whether they need a certified copy, or just a plain copy, for their records.

Call the state where you were born and they will tell you the information and the amount of money to send you your birth certificate. About 10 dollars

Whats a B43? He has a b/c in the Vital Statistic's of the state government where he was born. They can reissue a certified copy!
SSI is for disability (You said yours), Why would you need his b/c? If you were asking for SSA death benefits it might be different, but you need proof you were married, which is not on a B/c?
I am confused

You need to go to the town hall where he or she was born. Birth Certificates are public record. For example, say this person was born in Orlando, then you would need to go to the City Hall of Orlando. They usually cost about 15.00 for a copy.

I take it he is no longer alive? Contact the state he was born in at the VITAL RECORDS OFFICE in the state capitol. They will tell you what you need to do.
"B/43"? Does that mean BORN IN 1943?
Good luck!
