because the sun is so bright and the atmosphere out there is so vast there just isnt enough light to expose it because even though theres intense light from the sun it isnt enough light to cast into infinity

Space is actually a deep, dark red in that there is an all pervading light in the infrared (below red). This is caused by light from the big bang through out space having cooled to just 3º higher than absolute zero (the lowest possible temperature). Space looks black to our eyes because we can not see this infrared light and, in the vacuum between the planets, stars and galaxies, there is not much to reflect the light that we can see.
