Only volunteers from other states are trying to rebuild
in Louisiana. The locals are sitting around waiting to
be waited on. Now, by contrast, Mississippi governor
has been working hard to clean up the mess and get
started rebuilding. He states the places that were
flattened will be even better than they were when it's
done. Wow. What a governor. (unlike the New Orleans
mayor and governor).

In response to buttercup, isn't it a shame that the bush administration has provided better assistance to the republican govenor of Mississippi than that of the Democratic Govenor of Louisiana.
Wether that is true or not, I don't know, but it is worth considering. I have also heard visitors to the area ask why New Orleans residents were sitting around in motels while other people built their homes.
But regardless, what still astounds me was referring to americans devastated by a natural disaster as "refugees" in the media.
The point is, no one should give a rats ### about the govenor of either state. Everybody involved should be fired and/or voted out of office.
Also,
Thanxs pink for your update.

iwas down there last summer. it appears that the white people that had money and insurance are rebuilding in areas north of lake ponchatrain, Hammond, Covington, etc. amazing amout of construction going on there.
the poor black areas like 9th ward look about like they did a month after the hurricane. not much rebuilding. big piles of debris, some fema trailers.

I spoke with a friend that lives there last week and he said that most of the rebuilding is completed, however the beaches are still a mess.
