I think I'd have to agree with the first guy on this one, although considering archeologists have found what they believe to be Troy and that if there is any merit to Homer's stories (which are now commonly believed to have been written by a travelling group of storytellers and published under one name) it seems possible the Trojan Horse could have existed. A recent Doco I saw on either Discovery or Nat Geo detailed the building etc of a recreation based on Homer's description. Although impractical it shows it would have been possible.
Of course the whole story may have just simply been a morality tale, after all it dealt with Love, abduction, war, hatred and most importantly ego.
So was it real? I pose to you a better question: Do we learn anything from this story? If so then whether it is real or not is hardly important, right?

The Trojan horse may or may not actually have been built and used. The only evidence known to modern scholars are literary references written long after the alleged event.

What do you mean by "Real"? do you mean a live horse or if it really happened? According to Homer, it was built from wood by Ulysses as an armored war vehicle, the Greek name of which was "Doureios Ippos" deriving from the word "Dory" = "Spear or javelin" and the word "Ippos" = Horse.

So, Doureios Ippos = Trojan horse.
