Oh comeon Cupcake. That was OBVIOUS! If you want to write a good article, then you should find what is appealing to your readers. If your readers are of an elderly group, for instance, you might focus on changes in medicare or prescription drug programs. If your readers are of a younger demographic then you may talk about music shows, school functions and upcoming events. One of the keys to a great newspaper article is to provide greater detail than a reader would find on a television newscast. Most news stories only get about 1-1 1/2 minutes of coverage whereas a newspaper article will cover the topic in a more complete way. It will provide background information to give a context to the news. Also, it will provide a broader view of the event because more time is alotted to prepare the information shared with the public.

Above all, remember these two things... 1)Answer the questions who, what, when, where, why and how. 2)Know your facts, without a doubt. There is nothing worse than an article written on speculation.

I have given you two links below to help you research farther. If this doesn't cover what you are looking for, then please go to your search engine and type in "Hints+writing+newspaper+article" or try "How to write a newspaper article." This will get you on your way to writing a spectacular newspaper article.

You get a topic, and do some reasearch.
Come up with a great headline, and get a eye catching picture.
