Try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC). I have had this problem before and this fixed it.

If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

If that doesn't work try pressing the control key, the command key, and the power button simultaneously and hold for three seconds to try to restart the computer.

You can also reset the PRAM (the computer has to turn on in order for this to work) Go here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238>

If it still doesn't work you will need to call Apple or go to an Apple store.

It could be any of the problems andrew mentions, but it also could be a certain virus that shuts your mac immediatley, since its only 4 months old i believe you have a warranty. Your best option would be calling Apple for support instead of medling with it yourself as it will void your warranty. If it's a software problem like a virus please post your question again and im sure many of us will be happy to find you a solution.

Jess,
you need to state whether you are using the battery supply power or you are using the power chord. If you are using the battery supply power, the battery is not retaining the charge. You have a faulty battery. If you are using the power chord, you possibly have a hard drive failure. please read and add more detail to your question.

As the other responders have said, contact Apple Support. Or if you have an Apple store nearby, take it to the Genius Bar.

Also, your can try searching for your issue here: http://www.apple.com/support/portables/

I would be on the phone with customer service or talking to the people I bought it from.
