What was the name of the catastrophe that happened in 1982, I believe it was in that year. It was about a mostly American owned company in India that produced pesticides and it exploded, I need to know what the name of the company was, etc.
If you can, could you also tell me a similar incident that happened in history?

however Chernobyl happened in 1986 in now the former USSR and to this day is still having severe effects on the population. Birth defects and such.

It was Union Carbide and they had a release of methyl-iso-cyanate. Highly toxic. Killed a load of people and injured thousands in Bhopal India.
