She is not a big drinker and would never do anything to ever put her children in harms way. I simply just think that she deserves to have one night every now and then with her mates,

All he can legally do is that which she allows. If he lays down this law and she accepts it, then yes, he can do it. Is it reasonable? No. We have a mother's club here in town and once a month we all get together with other mothers for a Mom's Night Out and we do to do a different bar each month.

Peace!

PS - Please! At 21 years old how old can her kids be? And she is surely not talking about taking the kids with her. She wants a night out with the girls - that's what you tell the children and they grow up with the very real view of women having friends and taking some time to themselves.

He sounds like a control-freak. If he's the father, would he be allowed to go to the pub? The mother needs timeout with her friends, just as much as her partner. He can babysit.

Because he wants her to remain a good roll model for her children. When you get married, and have kids you have to take on many new responsabilities, and you need to stop doing what you used to do, like going to a pub for a drink. Your friend and her husband are just trying to get used to having kids. Don't worry about your friend, and her family.

Because he's possessive. He may want to control her and this is a way he can do it. Or, maybe, she gets really hammered at the pub and comes really intoxicated home and it's a bad example for the children. Can't really say since I don't know either of them. I'd wager that it's one of these two.

He can't legally force her not to go to the pub if she really wants to. Advise her that going to the pub is probably unhealthy and might send the wrong message to her kids, but he can't make her stay away and she might have a legal case if he tries.

Obviously, no one can make anyone do anything. I mean, when two people get together they have to compromise or they go their own ways.

If your friend isn't very committed, or never wants to go with him, than maybe he is feeling a little threatened by her going to a pub alone.

If your friend has never given him a reason to feel that she isn't trustworthy, than maybe it is his problem and he is a control freak.

Not enough information.

Are you kidding?

There's no law that states you can't go to the bar if you're a mother. She has every right to head out to the bar, get away from the kids, and undwind. Her husband/boyfriend/partner is just being jealous and controlling.

Take her out! Who cares what her partner says?! It's HER life, not his.

He sounds like a control freak. Does he go? She should tell him he can't go because he's a Dad, sounds just as stupid. But I do have to say I don't think married people should make a habit of going to places like that alone all the time, occasionally yes, but not like some people do on a weekly basis. That usually leads to trouble.

I feel he does this to have total control over her. I was in a relationship where my ex would not allow me to go out or be with friends but they were able to whenever they wanted. this may be a serious issue have her talk to him about it.Being a responsible parent and going to the bar. if you are of age to have a drink or two there is nothign wrong with going to the bar especially if there is someone there to take care of the kids.

He's a control freak and she should be able to go to the pub. I recommend drinking responsibly.
