Cold is heavier than heat. Heat only rises because cold pushes it up. It doesn't automatically rise just because it is heat. That's why downstairs is colder.

Because heat rises. Your heat is going from the downstairs to the upstairs. I KNow this becuase my house is frigin' freezing because one the heater is downstairs and the heat rises and two because my house was built in 1903 and it has many original features that don't conserve heat.

Heat does rise but if you have tile downstairs that will make it coldre also if you have animals and you need to keep the doors open that would also do it. Also the cold air comes through the doors. but it's mainly the tile

Because farts rise, which thins the air, and creates a vacuum that then sucks up the heat. The movement of flatulence causes the cold to descend, mainly to escape the smell. That's probably why you were down there too, huh?

Heat rises. or it could be the heating system. Some have a tendency to heat the rooms closest to the generator extremely well and the ones farthest away, not so much.
