Let's say you have a decent job and you love it. How would you feel if people belittle the kind of job that you have? How would you feel if your parents belittle your job?

I can't give you the best answer since my parents never did belittle my job.
What matters is that you think it is a great job and more importantly you are very happy with this job. DO you know how many millions of Americans get up every morning and dread going off to their job.
The next time you are with your parents, please try to tell them how much your job means to you, that you like it and you do not appreciate their comments. You would only like to hear positive comments from them regarding your job or none at all.
Celebrate your great job girl.

Well, the best revenge is to show that you excel at the job. It also wouldn't hurt if you made more $ than all those who belittle you. Ultimately you will have to decide if this belittle-ment is worth your friendship, or family ties. I'm a truck driver. My brothers looked at me like a failure, all the way up until the found that I make $15,000 more a year than they do. SWEET! I love my job! Really love it! Now when I come over they try to get me to tell them all of the horrible nasty things that truck drivers must face. I just smiled and say I wouldn't trade it for a masters degree! Now, one wants to check into this as a possible career change. I told him he wouldn't last one day. Sweet revenge!

It never makes a person feel good to be belittled for anything. My thoughts have always been .....if you love your job....that's the most important thing of all. If you have to work, loving your job is where its at. The world is full of people stressed out because they hate their job. Mom and Dad should be just happy because your working. A lot of parents would give their eye teeth if their kid would just work, period.

If you have a job that both supports you and makes you happy then you are far luckier than many people in this world. Consider how rare it is to hear someone say they love their job. Are the folks who are saying these things to you as happy with their career choices.

I would try to explain a bit why you love it or why it is important to you and how lucky you feel. If they choose to be closed minded about it and refuse to acknowledge your side, you may just have to let it go.

OH, i can imagine what your talking about tell them that maybe you think the job is great. Tell them that you don't exactly think their idea of a reasonable job is that cool either. Tell them that it is a good job, explain to them first the benefits and why it is good and then how it makes you happy, isn't it important to have a job that makes you happy? Do what you love, money will follow. I think that was a book i read about it, its good and true.

to tell you the truth, i would feel pretty lousy.

i have no idea what the job is so i can't say much about this situation. parents are usually encouraging when their children have a job. so i am a bit puzzled.

It may hurt,b ut you must know yourself and if it makes you happy then it should not matter what others feel. Some people spend their entire lives searching for a career that makes them happy and you found yours so "don't worry, be happy, don't worry be happy".

Nothing.. because I am not in this world to live up anybody's expectation. My happiness in life does not depend to anyone. I'll be proud to take pride of what Im doing because thats what gives me happiness.

Real bad. But, if you enjoy the job, just ignore them.
