What do I think of ?
The two opportunities we had to see him perform live in concert, in Chicago. It was unbelievable. I'm an experienced guitarist, and even then, I was pretty good, and Jimi did things I couldn't even figure out just by watching him. It wasn't just about the volume; the guy incorporated jazz into his psychedelic rock.
I cried when I heard of his untimely death.

When I hear the name Jimi Hendrix, I think, "There must be some kinda way out of here...said the joker to the thief."

Well, you have to include that. Such a waste. There were so many musicians & comics from my generation who died from drugs.

He was a phenomenal musican. I think like you...one of the musical geniuses that died too young...along with Joplin, Jim Morrison, Lennon, etc.
