Happiness is a state of mind - pure and simple. If we as individuals, monitor our own thoughts and behaviors, we can often see the negative emotions that rule our lives, often unconciously. Some people have kind of learned that if they don't have something to complain about they don't get a chance to talk or they feel their friends don't like them because they are better or happier than "they have a right to be". We hear our own parent's criticism in our criticism of ourselves. Many people allow their church, peer, or their parent's circumstance dictate what they are entitled to in this world as people.

The key to happiness is to always look on the bright side of life. Try to see the best in people, give them the benefit of the doubt - but no one so much as yourself. There is a great book out there by Louise Hay that talks about our own power over our mind, thoughts and emotional responses. It's called "You can heal your life" and here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/You-Can-Heal-Your-Life/dp/0937611018/sr=8-2/qid=1170052295/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-6980058-2916931?ie=UTF8&s=books

In a nut shell - thoughts become things. If you want to be happy, be happy. Remind yourself as often as you can that you are happy and how great you feel. Visualize yourself in your mind's eye - see yourself happy and know that all is well. You will be amazed at how something so simple can work so well and so quickly.

Peace!

Happiness comes from within, so do the things that make you the most happiest and give you the most pleasure. Material things and money are not going to give you what you want because you can go out and buy everything in the world but at the end of the day r u reallly any happier? Family, friends, giving to the homeless or helping is where happiness comes in because you feel like you actually made a difference. yea know what i mean?

It depends on what afflicts each person in his life. Think of it as a simple formula. Find the things that are making you unhappy, and ask yourself if you can change it. If you can, then change it. If you can't then you have to learn to deal with it and keep it from bringing you down. For instance, if there is a certain person that just ticks you off, you don't have to let it ruin your whole day. Sure he's a jerk, but you make the decision to let him affect you in a bad way. Things like that we can change to a degree. In other words, you can't control what the people around you do or don't do, but you can control what you do or how you react.

Change the tape playing in your head to a more optimistic point of view. Make negative thoughts stop and don't let them play over and over. Find something good in the worst situations - you are learning and growing and can share your knowledge, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, as they say! Revel in each thing as a way to grow stronger.
