For some reason I feel a little stupid and gross for asking this: but exactly how do snakes use the bathroom? I've wondered this ever since I was little and watched Nature specials on T.V.

Cute. I kept snakes for years. They do not go to the bathroom to do their business, they just dump wherever they feel like it. Snake poop is extra stinky and always contains the undigested parts of the critter it just ate. Once we fed a snake a mouse who was full of greens. All the greens came out in one chunk!
They have a digestive system like all critters. Food goes in one end and comes out the other. Just before the tail begins, there is a sliding scale which recedes when it is time to dump the mess. It comes out in a mixture of solids and fluids all at once. The private parts, btw, are hidden in the same fashion.

They have an anus just like you and me. Toward the tail end of the snake there is a specialized belly scale that lifts open, usually the tail is up in the air. Then they just let it out. Everything just closes up after that and they go sliding off...

OK. This is gross but I saw someone do it. I'll never forget it. Get a worm. Rub your finger down its back all the way to the end. If nothing comes out then rub your finger all the way down its back in the other direction. The shik actually comes out in a little line. GROSS AS HELL. But that's probably the closest you'll come to seeing it happen. yuk. A kid I knew did this. Too gross. argh.

To add to what Floridaguide said, it's also interesting that urine (semisolid) AND feces come out in a gunky lumpy mess altogether!
