That is probably a methanol base. An alcohol would dissolve it. You could use something like mouthwash or something similar. Then soap and water will get the mouthwash out. It doesn't have to be mouthwash. Jack Daniel's whiskey would work. I can't speak for the smell though.

The main ingredient in drygas is methanol alcohol, which is the smell you are getting. A water based carpet cleaner and a good application with the wet dry vacuum should get ride of the residue and with it the smell. Baking powder, or fabreze will help also.

Get some carpet cleaner and follow the instructions, should take the smell out for the most part, but chances are it seeped into the seat cushion and will fade away with time, but will smell for a while.

Febreeze the car to hide the smell.

http://www.zorbx.com

Once you use this stuff, you'll know that there's nothing better to get rid of odor than this!

Let's say you don't want to spend the money on Zorbx, cat litter over the spot of the spill should absorb the smell. I don't know if it's too late to do it now, but that should work. Hopefully, you know somebody that have pet cats.

Baking soda is another good source of odor absorbing.

Put flat shallow tins filled with white vinegar on all 4 floor-wells try this every day for a week with the windows open in a garage of closed outside. Believe me spilled dry-gas isn't as bad as a gallon of gasoline in my trunk last summer! I got this info. on the Internet last summer. You'll be fine!

Whatever route you decide to do, DON'T pour J.D. on it...
That would be alcohol abuse!!!

Next ask him WHY he had a container of gasoline treatment open in the cab in the first place!!!
