reduction division: the first division of meiosis in which the number of chromosomes is reduced to half the original number

spindle fibers: Definition: An aggregate of microtubules that move chromosomes during cell division.

Parent cell: A cell that is the source of other cells, as a cell that divides to produce two or more daughter cells, or a stem cell that is a progenitor of other cells or is the first in a line of developing cells.

Reduction division means it's a type of cell division that results in daughter cells with fewer chromosomes apiece than the parent cell had. The chromosome number is "reduced".

Spindle fibers are the protein microtubules that form the cage-like spindle. These spindle fibers push and pull the centromeres of the chromosomes to the equator of the spindle during metaphase. They also pull to separate chromosomes (in meiosis I) or sister chromatids (in meiosis II) and drag them to opposite poles of the cell.

The parent cell is the one cell that was already there during interphase. It divides - eventually making 4 cells in meiosis.
