Marrying a girl who was convicted of a felony involving drugs might affect your airport security clearance since drugs are a concern at airports.
A former parole and probation officer gave me the following points for you to think about and get answers to:
1. Did you know her before her felony conviction, or after? If after, how do you know this is her only felony conviction? Proof?
2. Everyone convicted of a felony will have (or have had) a parole officer, if there was a prison sentence. Everyone convicted of a felony will have (or have had) a probation officer, if there was anything less than a prison sentence imposed.
3. You could check with her parole/probation officer and find out what for sure whether she has only the one conviction. You have a need to know. If she is forthcoming, she will go with you to see the parole/probation officer, even if the conviction occured quite some time ago.
4. In this age of plea-bargaining, many felony crimes are reduced to misdemeanors. Why was hers not reduced?
5. If someone was dealing drugs--how long was she dealing? What drugs?
6. Can she get her felony record expunged? This would help you out, if you choose to marry her, since then, the crime "never happened", as there would be no record of it. But expungements need to have a lawyer who is willing to see to it that everything is expunged that can be.
You indicated that your job "requires extensive background checks." If you have the job now as you indicate you do, your background check has already been completed. Unless your girlfriend becomes involved in drugs after you're married, she most likely will not be the focus of any attention.

As an intelligent guy I'am sure you knew the answer to this befroe you asked, but you are leading with your heart instead of your mind, so ask yourself what is more important to you, and could you be happy with your decesion. If she means that much to you think of a career change or something in the same field that don't require such extensive background checking. That's just the way the world is these days, good luck!!

Yes it can. It of course depends on the type of security clearance. I have a good friend of mine who has a similar problem. His step dad works for the government and they investigate anyone he has involvement with. So anyone who has a criminal background does effect his clearance. Again it depends on what level of clearance you have.
I would say that it is very likely since you work at airports. I worked at a place that required a high level of clearance to get in. It took 8 months of intensive background checking and they went back over 10 years. This was prior to 9/11.
But you should know the answer to this as you would have been briefed when you did submit to the background check.

Having dealt with this in the past, I am going to say that it may slightly affect the decision. It really depends on what Company or Department this is, and how strict they are. If it is a Police Department, it may affect you more. Good Luck!!!!!

Move on.....Move on....
When trying to get security clearances, especially with the government (federal or local), your entire life will be scrutinized, and they need very little reason to disqualify you. Marrying a felon will be an example of your personality, and many companies wont want to have someone who can condone bad behavior as a member of their staff.
My suggestion to you, Aim a little higher.

Texting lets you control the tone and establish what kind of conversation you want to have. Learn here https://tr.im/kxiAF
This is probably the most important part. With texting, you can stop and think about what you want to say to your ex at each step of the way. Instead of reacting emotionally, you can take your time, figure out the right thing to say (I’ll give you most of it), and be strategic with your ex without saying something that you’ll regret.

Very possibly, especially with increased security issues.
Drug traffickers rarely reform for long, are you really sure you want to do this ? They are masters at evoking sympathy , and milking suckers . How long have you been dating ?
You should date her for several years, until she has an excellent employment history herself , her character becomes beyond reproach , and the felony becomes very ancient history.

Great question!!
I think only if she becomes your WIFE will this be a problem. Let's see....Felony drug conviction.... international airports....did you know that if you owe back taxes that affects your ability to pass a security check?! If you are behind in child support that affects you too!!
My answer: Perhaps

If you only wanted a normal job, this wouldn't be a problem. They wouldn't even look into it. They would only look into your criminal record. If they find nothing on you, no problem.
But, yes, if you need a security clearance, this will be a problem for you.
