They still wear them in Bermuda. They really are regular length pants because Bermudans are really short. They made too many and someone had the brillant idea to sell them in America as shorts.

Loooooooong. We never called them "bermuda shorts", we called them "jams". If they touched or were below the knees we called them "clam diggers".
