Yeah, you can transfer to stanford. In community college, you take GE (General Ed) couses and lower division classes for your major. Since you are located in California, try going to ASSIST.org to find out your lower division classes.

City College should have a counseling office that deals specifically with transfering. You should know that Stanford does not accept very many transfer students. However, all of the UCs do, and every community collegge in California has a quota of a certain number of students that must be allowed to transfer to each UC campus. So if you do well at City College, you can probably get into UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, or UC Davis, all of which are top rated schools.

In general though, to transfer you need to take all of the general ed classes, which takes 2 years of full time study.

What is your SLEP score? Will you have to return to China or will you finish senior here in USA? Ist find a school with a program that has ESL learning center. After you have your AA yes with good grades you can apply to Stanford. I have worked with many Asian students and the hardest think for them was moving their mouth. Good luck
