Are there a lot of men out there that enjoy cooking instead of the wife?

My husband always wants to cook, not that my cooking is bad its just that he really gets into it, the shopping,planning what he wants to cook etc.Is this common?

Thank your lucky stars you have a man who enjoys cooking! Many of the top chefs in the world are men. My husband enjoys cooking and when we were dating it was a cheap and fun date to cook dinner together. He is amazing too. He'll just throw together whatever he can find around the house and it comes out great (most of the time). I'm more the sort who likes to plan and follow recipes, but who has time for that???

My dad was like this and he was a much better cook than my mom. She would even say he was the better cook. Overall, though, I'd guess women still doing the majority of the cooking. Although it's probably more common now for the men to want to cook than it was 20 or 30 years ago. Male celebrity chefs like Emeril and Wolgang Puck have made cooking into a manly activity. I wish my husband would take the initiative to want to do the cooking. I'd love to sit down and have someone cook for me!

Hmmm well I desgined my house around the kitchen....does that tell you where I stand on cooking? LOL.

I enjoy cooking, especially for a new GF or date. I am pretty good at it from what I've been told.

I did all the cooking when I was married for the fact my ex-wife could and would burn water. Her idea of a home cooked meal was throwing a Banquet frozen meal into the oven. Yuk!!!

Mom is Italian, so you can guess I was around cooking all the time.

And ladies, yes, I am single and up in the Pacific NorthWest.

Girl did you ever sing my song! My story is probably a similar one to allot of guys. My wife got pregnant. (All her fault I assure you.) Anyway the last 6 months of the pregnancy was rough! Cooking was so nauseating that she ran to the bathroom whenever anybody mentioned Kung pao. So enter Daddy! I through on an apron (don't tell anyone) and started my trek toward chef-hood! I sacrificed many dinners to the smoke detector Gods. But, I finally got the hang of it. It's just like chemistry! Now I hate to say this (not really) between my wife and I, I'm the better cook. Heh heh!!!!

yes my husband does most of the cooking as he is a better cook then I am lol. But at the same time i help him too with cooking and preparing the food.

When I was married I used to cook quite often when i had the time. It would give my wife a break and it would give me a chance to either fix something we hadn't had in a while or just try a new recipe out and not to mention that my cooking was far better anyhow.

HELLO, Why would you even question this? You just let him go on and be such a good husband. lol. I think now days that some men realize that since women have to work too that it is their way of helping out. And what a big help it is. I think it is great. enjoy it and be glad that you don't have one of the ******* that think their wife should work cook and clean.

I like to cook. I just made a HUGE pot of soup- about 4 gallons. I'll freeze it tomorrow, and we'll have homemade soup for months. My Dad cooks, and so did my Grandfather. For us, it works well. My wife likes to bake, and makes the best spaghetti sauce. My cherry pies are great, and I do soups and stews. We eat cheap, and eat well. I'm also a GREAT campfire cook, and cook on trips to the Canadian wilderness every May. I also kill, butcher, and cook my own venison.

Yep some men like to cook and some women like to work on cars. Glad the wife likes to cook and leave my trucks alone.

More common than you think. I also enjoy cooking. We take turns planning our menus and cooking our meals.
