Israel certainly wants and strives for peace.
On the other hand, an Islamic martyr is typically a suicide bomber who straps explosives filled with shrapnel and rat poison to his chest, walks into a public place filled with innocent Jewish women and children whom the bomber never met, shouts "Allah Akbar" (God is Great) and then shatters the lives of hundreds, all for the right to gain entrance into a pornographic heaven filled with 72 virgins, young boys, and tons of gold and jewels.
Further rewards, as reported by hadith, are that the fighter in God's cause will, if killed in the struggle, receive privileges otherwise unattainable: he escapes the examination in the grave by the "interrogating angels"; he does not need to pass through barzakh, the purgatory limbo; he receives the highest of ranks in paradise, sitting near the throne of God--Muhammad described the "house of martyrs," dar al-shuhada', as the most beautiful abode of paradise; on the Day of Judgment any wounds the martyr received in battle will shine and smell like musk; his death as a martyr frees him of all sin such that he does not require the intercession of the Prophet; he is purified by his act and so he alone is not washed before burial.
"Martyr" is just one of many concepts that Islamics have corrupted.
And just to make it clear to the answerers, there is no place in the Middle East called "Palestine." What had been Palestine was divided among the Arabs (80 percent of Palestine, now called Jordan) and the Jews (20 percent of Palestine, now called Israel).

Israel wants peace. Barak in 2000 offered Arafat 98% of all that he wanted and Arafat refused it and began the intifada. Israel wanted peace with Egypt and withdrew from Sinai for the most part there is peace. Israel wanted peace with Lebanon and withdrew in 2000 they attacked Israel last summer. Israel since 1993 has gone backwards to try to negotiate peace with the Palestinians and it was rewarded by suicide bombers.
About the security fence it is needed to protect Israel from terrorists. Think of it this way, what if Canadians one day decide to bomb Maine. Everyday they crossed the borders and bombed town near their borders. Sometimes they fired rockets into the neighboring villages and kidnapped American citizens. America would retaliate as would any other country that is experiencing what Israel is experiencing. Then why double standards for Israel. It is not the Palestinians who are the victims it is the Israelis. Look at Gaza they withdrew 9000 people lost their homes…yet the rockets are still being fired into Israel from Gaza. Israel was promised that it would usher in the age of peace, however the Palestinians lied.
So, I say the Palestinians want peace only after every single Jew is driven out into the sea.

The 1993 "Declaration of Principles On Interim Self-Government Arrangements" was the official name of the Oslo accords, the foundation on which peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians were based from 1993 to 2000. It is sometimes abbreviated as just "DOP" or called the "Declaration of Principles".
They were signed at a Washington ceremony hosted by US President Bill Clinton on September 13, 1993, during which Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin shook hands, ending decades as sworn enemies.
Having said that, no, I dont think they want peace. I think war and violence has become a way of life for both sides, a culture of reisgnation, if you will, and it feeds their industry and economy.

I believe some Israelis and some Palestinians sincerely want peace. Unfortunately, I think most of the leaders of both sides do not fall in this category.

Israel does what peace but it cant give up its security and the best interest of its people in order to achieve that goal. The Palestinians are the aggressiors and it is up to them to show that they truly desire a peaceful resolution to the problem.

The Jews and the Arabs both want peace.
The problem is, the Arab notion of peace requires the killing/repressing of all the Jews.

Israel wants to wipe Palestine and Palestinians off the map. Palestinians don't want to be wiped off the map.
It's not that complicated.

Isreal wants peace and has wanted peace for decades. In fact, they have bent over backwards to gain peace and still they are attacked.
