The rate is forever changing. $1.2958 to €1 as of 01:47 gmt but this is not the currency rate - it like for like. See below for live link to foreign exhchange and you can see how the price can change within an hour. Check out the neat chart at the bottom to give you an idea of fluctuations...

As for a tourist rate, around $1.35 will get you €1 so roughly $4 will equal €4, $8 will equal €6, $12 will equal €9 and so on.

Just to think when the euro was first launched it dropped to around $0.70 to €1 from originally rougly $1 to €1.

A very expensive holiday for any amercicans planning to travel to europe and the UK with the GB £1 nearly hitting $2!!

Why cant we all use the same money?!! Cos banks like to make more the greedy b******s!

P.S. The numbers above mean it's a crappy time to be going to Europe on vacation! :P Southeast Asia still has good rates though. Have fun!
