Ok this is really doing my head in! I will be 28wks on Friday so wot would be closest to my conception date? I tried working it out but im confused on how it works. Do i deduct 14dys from the 28wks? My friend says that it says on my chart that my baby is EXACTLY 28wks which is strange but i dont have a clue what she's going on about! Who knows the date??

To find an approximate conception date you take your due date and subtract 38 weeks. Doctors go by your last period when coming up with a due date and most women with regular cycles ovulate about 2 weeks after their period. When is your due date? Is it April 27th?

Because it is not clear when a woman gets pregnant (the sperm could survive for no more than 6 hours in the female body but the egg may not actually make its way to the womb and begin division for a wee while longer so no telling for sure!) during the 28 days of her cycle doctors generally work in 40 weeks from the last known period.

Conception is therefore considered to be two weeks later.

Which means that if you are "term" at 40 weeks you have actually only been pregnant for 38 weeks.

:-)

Confusing?

Yep.

Check your last period's date and add two weeks. That is when you are supposed to have conceived.

Congratulations by the way!

LMP date + 13/15 days is the probable day with 80% confidence if ur cycle ws 28 days. For longer or shorter cycle pl do adjust.

Add 2 weeks to your last period, and that is around the conception date. When a doctor calulates your 40 weeks they go off of your LMP, and add 14 days to that to get the conception/ovulation date. It's based off the average 28 day cycle, so it may be off by a few days.

If you're 28 weeks pregnant, that means the first day of your last period was 28 weeks ago, and you actually ovulated and conceived 26 weeks ago. Personally I think it's screwy that they do it that way.

What's your LMP? That's the date of your last menstrual period. what's your estimated due date? I can't tell from just you saying 28 weeks.
