It's not impertive that i find one, i'd just like to be organized. My budget is $50 -$250.

I think the best place to buy a prom dress is a consignment shop or a bridal shop. Consignment shops are the best because you can find more original dresses (no risk of having the same dress as someone else) and can be a little less expensive, but bridal shops also have gorgeous dresses that are aimed at bridesmaids but work great for proms, that are also less likely to be doubled. I'm in the process of planning a wedding and found that the small bridal shop I went to for a dress also catered to prom goers and had some beautiful dresses.
And as for looking online, it's always a risk because it may not fit right. I bought a dress offline for my senior prom and it ended up being too small, so then I went to a consignment shop and found the perfect dress. It's always better when you can try them on since formal dresses have a tendency to run small, but how small is different for every style and brand.

well, it depends were u live, here in CA prom dresses are more casualish but i'd look at anthropologie, betsie johnson, jcrew, or Jessica Mclintock. Good luck!
