As far as I know it's a new idea that hasn't been done so, do I need to get a patent? Or CAN you even get a patent for a website since it's not really a tangible thing?

Help!

not even sure you can patent a website. it is what it is. now if you are selling something on that website, that's different. i work with a patent attorney and have never heard of anyone doing this. under copyright law, anything original you wrote or put on it automatically is protected under copyright law. you can copyright your website with this symbol (c). it's also okay to submit your work for "formal" copyright proof with http://www.copyright.gov/ - just in case you have legal issues. this way provides more protection.
