Ovechkin's (WASH) goal against the Coyotes' in October 2005. Hard to describe, but his falling, sliding, no look swing at the goal was spectacular. Luck or Talent? Could be both!

Probably Bob Bourne of the New York Islanders during the 83 playoffs versus the New York Rangers.
He picked up the puck behind his net from Billy Smith and then proceeded to circle around two Rangers. By this time, the electricity in the stadium was awesome. He then split the defense and sent a nice snap shot between the goalie's 5-hole. The place went nuts.
I think the goalie was Glen Hanlon.
Although, the Mario Lemieux goal against the Russians in game 3 of the 87 Canada Cup was pretty sweet too. As was Henderson's in the 72 Summit Series.
Actually, come to think about it, there were a lot of great goals I have seen over the last 30 plus years of watching hockey.

Because I was born in 1956, my earliest memories of hockey were just before the first NHL expansion, I watched Roger Crozier stand on his head against Montreal in 63-64, win the Conn Smythe for a losing team. Watched Orr his entire career. Gilbert Perrault in full flight. Lived in Edmonton in WHA, Gretzky, Messier years. Best goal was Bobby Orr's game winner in Stanley Cup final to cap one of the greatest seasons ever. Getting tripped reaching for the pass and arms outstretched as the goal went in. Never forgot how fitting it was for him to score, have been many , many beautiful goals over the years. Great question.

Lemieux's goal in the '91 finals against the Minnesota North Stars. He split two defenseman and buried a shot by goalie Jon Casey. It was an Incredible individual effort where Lemieux beat three people to score a goal.

Although the speed and skill in today's game makes for many exciting goals, the sweetest goal for me is Paul Henderson's 1972 Summit Series game winner. That goal united an entire nation. In workplaces, in school classrooms - everywhere you looked the TVs were on, with hockey fans and non-fans alike lifting into one unified cheer of relief as Canada defeated the Soviet Union in the "original" series between the two hockey powers.

Pierre LaRouche, while with the Montreal Canadiens back in the early '80's against the Minnesota North Stars...it was a sweet 3 way passing play that Pierre just basically had to tap it in an empty net...the North Star defenders & goalie were fooled big time!! You seldom ever see a play like that anymore in the "new" NHL!!

Denis Savard, Black Hawks (before it was changed to Blackhawks).
Chicago v. Montreal, circa late 80's-early 90's.
Savard was skating with the puck toward a backing Hab defenseman. He slightly brakes, does a 360 and scores. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

He's not one of my favorite players, but I love to watch Maxim Afinogenov waltz into the other team's end and bury a puck in the net. It always seems like everything he does is so effortless; steal the puck from this guy, stickhandle around that guy, fake out the forward who's made it back, then whisk it past the goalie. The guy just makes extremely good looking plays!

Denis Savard when he was playing for the Blackhawks against the Edmonton Oilers. Savard dipsy-doodled around practically everyone on the ice before putting the puck past Grant Fuhr.

Sweet Spezza goal
I'm a huge Habs fan but this was the sickest goal ever last year. Jason Spezza coming down with the puck on Sheldon Souray and mad Souray look like a pylon and then completely on dressed Jose Theodore also it was in overtime.
