Even if you don't like the man's politics you have to realize because of his legislation and wanting to bring the internet to the people and not just the government it is what it is!

The Internet is great at helping shine a light on corruption. We should not settle for corrupt leaders regardless of the party they are in. We need to vote them out or recall them when they are caught doing illegal things.

It used to be that a person had to spend a lot of money to be heard. Lot's of money still helps get the message out today, but we aren't spending much to share our thoughts here. The news media still controls a lot of the information. They need to do a better job of being less biased.

I don't like when distortions are used by either group.

Snopes says that Gore said:
"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."

President Clinton did well in making the Information Superhighway a priority, as that improves information sharing that helps in almost all research fields.

One corruption is when any branch of the government oversteps it's authority according to the Constitution.

I've heard people praise the Supreme Court for considering what will happen if they rule one way or another. Please understand that when the Supreme Court says (and they have) that if the outcome of their ruling isn't what they want then they will rule differently later, then they are creating law instead of interpretting it.

They are only 9 people and if they are allowed to change the meaning of words simply written then they are more like dictators than judges (technically a judicial oligarchy).

The other branches also occasionally overstep their authority, and the Supreme Court is supposed to hold them in check. The Senate can impeach judges, but they are too slow to stop judicial activism. Judges should not be political creatures. If a judge could rule in favor of a doctor who ran a red light, because presumably the doctor will save more lives than the the other person, then rule of law breaks down. (Or let a doctor get away with other breakings of the law).

Its a good question kelly. However a wonderful thing I dont know.
There is as much incorrect information and disinformation on the internet as there is good info.
I guess it keeps us sitting on our backsides working on a premature middle age spread while we try and figure out what the hell is going on. I think the internet has helped foster alot of far right and far left whacko attitudes as much as it has done good.

And I will give Al Gore credit for promoting the internet to the masses. Although he did say he invented the internet, but it was in the context of the internet as of what it is today. He is a silly man.

I'm a strong proponent of open government. These people work for us, on our dime, and we have a right to know what they are doing. The internet helps immensely, but we need to make sure we are hearing it all. No more government secrecy.

The Patriot Act needs to go, and National Security issues need to be dealt with in a way where someone is looking over the Executives shoulder. Thats democracy, not this shell game Bush is playing.

As long as each item isn't required to OPENLY stand on its own merrit their will be corruption. No more grouping of unrelated items in a bill. Granted ALL the politians will fight against this call. It would in effect open up a line item veto, make politicians accountable, show who is whom's pocket.

There will never be a downfall of political corruption.

Al Gore did not say he invented the internet, this is yet another Republican purposeful misquote.

Why would it be? Why might the internet cause such a downfall? You obviously have an opinion of your own, why don't you share it with us?
