If you haven't had your period in a year, that is very serious. You need to make an appointment with a gynecologist immediately.

For now here are some things to think about: My sister didn't have her period for 1.5 years and she had an ovarian cyst (like a tumor). It could also result from a serious eating disorder. That's what I know; it's possible you could be sick and/or have a reproductive system malfunction. PLEASE go to the doctor before anything gets worse!

What you are experiencing is called amenorrhea (ah-men-or-ree-ah) Your body does not have enough estrogen (a hormone) to support the cycle of your period. This happens to a lot of female athletes. Fat in the body gives off estrogen which enables you to have a cycle. Too little fat in the body and too much exercise can contribute to that. But it could be a lot of things.
The answer? See your gynecologist or doctor.

At 16, you need to see a gynocologist and discuss your problems. You may indeed have a reproductive malfunction.

That is usually when one exercises too much and doesn't eat enough. I wish that someone would have told me that years ago when I was young. Because I didn't eat much trying to thin when I was young, my metabolism has been screwed up as an adult. As a matter of fact, every woman I know that didn't eat enough when she was young is fat now and everyone who ate right when they were young is thin now.

I'm sorry that this might not help, but go see a doctor like I did. I'm only 11 yrs. Don't get freaked out, but it's true!!! I have no proof that I can show you, but it is true. Just see a doctor just in case.
