Well, they were both people that England didn't want in their country, so they kicked them out. Australians seem to be more laid back, as a country, about cursing and other things Americans are more appalled by.

Other than that, Australians have awesome accents (Sorry, had to add that :P)

i think the main difference is our sense of humour. americans dont tend to really get our humour all that well. we are a little bit strange in our humour compared to them.

i also think aussies are a bit more laid back, but this is more of a perception that is picked up through tv and movies. most american tourists i have met seemed pretty laid back too, so i dont really know about this one.

accents
many of our spelling of words is different (mum/mom, realise/realize, colour/color etc)
much of our slang is different

cant really think of much else off the top of my head, but i am sure there are a few more things.

I just wanted to add that we dont tend to eat horsemeat.

Our cultures have some similarities and some differences. They eat horsemeat. Seriously though, they often view themselves as more egalitarian than americans, less self centered and value the arts.

According to scientific studies, Americans have larger penises. In fact Americans have the largest in the world. I wish like hell i could remember where I read about this. I also want to know how that study was conducted. I hope they used sanitary tape measures.

given our historys I'd say we have a lot more in common than we have differences the one major difference I see is that they (Austrailians ) think that they are the best country in the world (and they are a close second) but we are the best .

Summers and winters
Nights and days

Not much else, except perhaps the accent.
