W = L - 12
P + 5 = 45
P = 40
40 = 2L + 2W ==> 40 = 2L + 2(L-12) ==> 40 = 2L + 2L - 24 ==> 64 = 4L
L = 16
W = 4

length=x width = x-12 perimeter=p = 2( x+x-12) =4x-24
4x-24 +5 =45 4x=64 so x=16
