Yeah I mean there might be a number of teams you like and support, but there is only one you support by heart! I agree, there must be loyalty to your real favorite team, but it's also acceptable to like how other teams play!

Babyboy- i agree you should support one team from a certain league.. As in footie there are many competitive leagues, you have a lot of teams to choose from and to say that you can only choose one is against freedom of speech, a fundamental human right. As far as national teams, many support their own country and if their own country doesnt qualify for the WC or the sport isnt big(like in the US, most footie fans support England or Brazil once US gets knocked out of the first round)....

Yea, that always makes me a bit curious too, but maybe there are just a lot of teams that people like for a lot of different reasons. Maybe they like one team because of a player they like, another because of the style, another because it's their local/national team, and another because they're good and fun to watch. Or maybe it's none of those and another reason (you should know what I'm talkin about here).
I also like quite a number of teams, but they are all in different leagues. I might support some other teams in the same league, but I will only have 1 favorite. For example, my favorite is Liverpool, but I'll also root for Newcastle or Fulham at times (Newcastle because my favorite player is Owen, and Fulham because they've got a few Americans).
For national teams, I support the USA, but I also root for England because I like its players (let the thumbsdowns come), and also Australia because they're my favorite underdog and I like a lot of their players as well.
So, there are quite a few teams that I'll find myself supporting, but I'll be loyal to them no matter what because I have reasons to be loyal to them and I want to be loyal to them. There isn't a problem really, with liking a lot of teams...The thing is just, how loyal are you to those teams? And I think that's the big question.

I have a team I love and support from each league but there is nothing wrong with admiring or respecting the class, skill or performance of others either. I support RM in La Liga but have a huge amount of respect for Barca for eg. It's about loving the game and praising good players and play for me.

france is and will always be my team but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate other sides, too. for instance, i also watch argentina, spain and brazil, they have great players and they play beautiful football. at club level, i've always supported barcelona but there are other players I like and they play for other teams so i support my favorites and make it a pt to watch their games. it's the same for most fans and i don't think there's a question of loyalty in that. it's all football and it's about appreciating a good game regardless of who plays it.

Such loyalty I'm sure would come if you were native to that teams place of origin. But for many of us in Asia or other conties outside of Europe's big leauges, that special bond is not there. So we tend to find players or traits that appeal to us.

My first team was, is and always will be Barca, but I like a lot of players that are not playing in Barca and I'm happy when I see that any team with Croatian player in it wins..... for example, I started to support Werder because of Klasnic, Klasnic is not playing good anymore and he will maybe go to Juve but now I like every player in Werder and will support them even when he'll be gone, and I'm happy for Arsenal because Henry and Fabregas, Man U because of Vidic and Saha, Portsmouth because of Kranjcar, Inter because of Ibrahimovic and Stankovic (Mihajlovic), Lyon because of Juninho, Fred and Malouda, Marseille because of Cisse, etc etc...... but when ANY of that teams play against Barca, I support Barca 100% !!!!!!
