No, not that i have heard. the disc he was talking about was eather a OS install disc or a systm restore disc that does erase everything and einstalles the os. i have done this with my laptop but the disc was a 20$ option but with desktops it has it's own HD (hard Drive) so it is easier to do. Sorry but i cant give you any sited that i know of that sell those discs because they only will work with that type of computer by comparing 2 codes the one the disc has and the computers id code or Os code. You could try calling th company you bought it from and ask them if they could send you a copy of the disc even though it may cost you a few dollars if you did not get a tech support package from the company. If you are looking to get a new OS disc though you miht as well upgrade to the new Windows Vsta that has many more features. And i said that you could not buy them in stores by that i meant the disc that comes with th computer from the manufaturer not from the store you bought it from. Best of luck.

the CD you are talking about is the Windows CD
You can buy Windows XP from any software store or from Best Buy or from e-Bay - however we might be having trouble using this generic one. Those laptop are not that generic
The best is to call your laptop manufacturer and ask for their custom Windows CD.
unforunately you do not provide the name and model number, this is required if you want to get a satisafctory answer next time

while store do sell that disc, they sell the blank version with a new license, this will cost you anywhere between $100-300 depending on your needs. The better idea is to call up the manufacture and order a replacement disc and pay for shipping, at most $30 for a disc made for your laptop.

yeah, it's called an Operating System Disc, but if you have a laptop from Dell, you'll probably need the Dell disk, so you might as well call Dell or HP, whichever the manufacturer. if you don't know what the OS is go to a computer store and get yourself the New Vista, atleast you have an excuse to upgrade

Sounds like you need to call the manufacturer. Depending on what brand it is you may have a problem. HP has a backup and restore feature on all thier computers and if you didn't create the disk you may have an issue correcting your problem. I think dell does that same thing. best thing you can do is call the company and ask them what to do. They may send you a new disk or for a small fee they may let you send it back for repair and do it all for you. PeAcE

Yes. It's called Windows XP, and Walmart sells it for $119, as I recall. Once you've run it, you'll have to get on the computer manufacturers website to download the drivers specific to your computer.

It would be nice to know which laptop you have because all drivers for laptops are different. Consult the manufacturer with your model number and they can help you out.
