Some do, some don't. I really think it all depends on the doctor. I went to a prenatal clinic that had 4 different doctors and things were different with everyone. It was never painful, but was more uncomfortable or more comfortable depending on which doctor I seen.

Nope. I heard this to and I never had any pain :) The doc always asked if I was having a contraction and waited until it was over. He'd even check the machine to make sure. But, he did catch me once and it was a rough contraction but not horrible or any more painful than anything else :))

I think every woman is different. For me it was not extremely painful, but it was more than I thought it would be. I did feel quite a bit of discomfort, but I was "high and closed". I think if the baby has dropped it's less uncomfortable.

I think the only time it is painful is when they do it while you are in labor. Then it is always (or seems like always) during a contraction and it hurts. Other than that it is just uncomfortable.

If you are already dialated, then it would not be painful. If you are not, then it would feel like a pelvic always does.

No! When you are getting ready to go into labor you
shouldn't find being checked really painful unless you
have an infection or something wrong!!!

It all HURTS! That is the bottom line. Just belly up for pain, and discomfort.
