I am 36 weeks pregnant and it took 4 years of trying for me to fall pregnant. I had very irregular periods and definately recommend, if you havent already, that you see a specialist in fertility.
You need to uncover the reasons for infertility if you can so you can be guided on how to best overcome it. I did about 3 years worth of fertility treatments (i have a very irregular cycle) and then fell pregnant naturally before having to do IVF.
It can happen but by now i hope you have sought help as 5 years is a long time. When it does happen you will appreciate it all the more for the obstacles you had to overcome to become pregnant in the first place. I used to look at other couples and think - how can it be so easy for some and yet for us it was a battle.
Good luck

It does not necessarily mean you cannot get pregnant. Speak to your OB/GYN if you haven't already. Sometimes their answers are too formal. Many women believe they always ovulate on or around day 14 of their cycle.
I would HIGHLY recommend the book: Taking Charge of Your Fertility. This will teach you everything you ever need to chart your cycles and help your doctor detecting any abnormalities if there are any. It could be that you ovulate later or earlier in your cycle. There is also a great board on www.thenest.com which has a pregnancy/family planning/trying to get pregnant board which is very popular and many women are supportive, knowledgeable and helpful there.
Also check out www.fertiltyfriend.com which will help you start your charting.
It took me a while with my first child, and it's taking me a long time with my second child as well...I had a miscarriage just in July and I haven't been able to get pregnant again yet. It's tough, but hang in there, there are many tools and resources to turn to. I have done so much research that I feel I could teach a class on female fertility and charting your cycles.

Wow, some people had really immature answers, while others were right on. My sister in law couldnt get pregnant so she went to the fertility doctor to IVF. She now has two children. Its a bit pricey though, but well worth it! Good luck with everything!

Go see your doctor. Tell your bf/husband/ or whoever the guy is has to go get checked too. His sperm count can be low...so make sure you see your doctor about this!! It could be many reasons why, so it's best you seek a professional. Good luck.

It might be a hormonal imbalance...don't freak out just yet, there might be a way to fix it. Why did u wait so long to go see a doctor, I would of gone after a year or so.
Good luck,
God bless!

There are a lot of things that contribute to infertility. One of them is an unhealthy diet, weight, and lack of exercise.
Also, there are many, many unwanted children who need a home. Adopting a child is just as fulfilling as having your own biologically.
