Please read all details before answering! Thanks!

I've asked similar questions before, and I'm going to try my luck again. I've recently taken up reading again, and I really enjoy sexy, exciting novels that keep me on the edge of my seat, but keep me intrigued, too, like when someone has to uncover secrets from their past.

I don't want the typical murder-she-wrote police procedurals; I don't find them near as riveting as something raw and sexual. I enjoy psychological thrillers, because they keep me guessing as I try to get into the villain's mind. I can also get into some ghost stories, as long as it's more mysterious than gory. I DO NOT DO HORROR. None of that Jason or Freddy stuff that has people popping out of the bushes with an axe.

I'm looking for something suspenseful or racy that will have me intrigued, excited, and frightened all at the same time! Any suggestions?? THANKS!

Beneath the Skin - by Nicci French - good psychological novel about a guy stalking several women. Couldn't put it down.

The Scold's Bridle - by Minette Walters - another good psychological novel. I've read everything by this author and they are all excellent.

A Dark-Adapted Eye - by Barbara Vine - if you like novels about people digging up secrets from the past then this author is for you. All of her books are great - this is the first one I read and it blew my mind.

The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown are both quite good. What he lacks in writing skills he makes up for a billion times over in imagination and intrigue. They are great books.

Also, anything by Patricia Cornwell. I find her latest stuff is a little lacking, but the first 7 or so Kay Scarpetta novels are fabulous. I didn't really get into crime/suspense novels until I read hers.

Have you ever tried a fantasy novel? I know most think they wont like them, but they have everything. Suspense, romance, humour, magic...... etc. Maybe try Rayond E. Feist, and I hear Robin Hobb is well worth the read too.

It might surprise you.

I find Lee Childs books quite addictive.... His 'Jack Reacher' novels are great. Those ones are action packed, but not in a full gore kinda way.

Hope I could help.

GREAT QUESTION. I have the answer. Try this book, "And Then There Where None." It's by Agatha Cristi. It's the best Suspense and Horror novel. I really enjoyed the ending twist, because after you finishing reading it, and before your read the true answer of who did the horrible deeds, you learn there is no answer to what happened. it's so brilliant that no one could find out the truth until they read the ending resolution. It's wild and makes you really wonder would someone do this, because it could really happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY!!! Oh and it's not Gory in anyway, you will not find any X-File stuff in it! hey if you have any good books for me please send me a few Ideas, i'm looking myself! You can e-mail me. It's saseder@yahoo.com! Oh also try Jade Green, and the Pendragon Series too if you have time.

Try Stephen Kings newest book Lisey's Story. Unlike his past books this is not a horror story its pretty good. Very suspensful. Being Stephen King though there is a certain level of scary but its done in a way thats different from his other books. Its about a woman whose husband has died and she has to uncover the secrets he was keeping from her. Its terribly good.

you could try some books by Barbara Michaels. They aren't all that raw and racy but they are fun romantic suspense novels with a bit of the supernatural thrown in, and definitely secrets from the past in most of them.

Definitely "into the darkest corner" by elizabeth haynes!!!! Awesome book, maybe even the best I've read. Its about a young adult woman who has been living the single life out partying with her friends too much and while shes at a club she meets a handsome man and forms a relationship with him later on, only to find he is obbsessive and violent towards her and also stalks her when she believes he's at a job he won't tell her about. Its fast paced, sexy, beautifull written, and you wont put it down! Trust me, i read it in five days. I found myself at work wishing I could just get home to read what happens next. Awesome book.
