Some teachers break down the A category into A -, A, A+...

Some teachers consider an A as being perfect 100.. so if you missed ANYTHING you get an A-...

Some teachers NEVER give an A because they think that there is ALWAYS room for improvement.

They use the staircase method. They stand at the top of a staircase and throw all the papers into the air. The ones that land on the top stair get an A, on the next stair get an A-, etc.

Just kidding (although sometimes I've been tempted...). It depends on the teacher and on the subject. If it's a test where the questions are either right or wrong (like a math test) then usually it's 93+ gets an A, 90-92 = A-, 87-89 = B+, 83-86 = B, 80-82 = B-, etc. If it's an essay test written for an english class, then the grading will be more subjective.

Depend on the teacher. Some have a grade boundary e.g. pupils scoring between 78 and 82 get an -A, where you are one or two marks off a perfect score. Others simply refuse to give a perfect score. Some are looking for particular things in a response and you have virtually hit on all of them perfectly, but one or two are slightly lacking, some see it as a better mark than a B+. There are lots of ways but most usually involve the teacher having a marking grid, sheet or set of criteria to mark against, therefore they can ensure that their marking is fair, and are able to justify their grade should the need arise!!!!
