I'll be taking the exam tomorrow to get my Learner's Permit at the New York DMV.

I'm slightly nervous about taking it, and I've been trying to find some materials online (preferably an online practice exam, or something of the sort).

That said, as I'm sure many of you have taken this exam, or one similar to it, please tell me what are some of the questions that are asked? Basically, at least an overview of some of the things we have to know?

Much appreciated everyone, thanks.

Standard questions involve basic rules of the road, i.e. a multiple choice question that gives you a scenario and you choose the best answer from 3 or 4 possibles.

There may be some visual questions, eg: images of a stop sign, yield, pavement narrows, merge etc and you label each and possibly you'll be asked also to give a brief description of what each sign means.

If you purchased a Drivers Manual, pretty well everything you'll be asked is based on that book. The test is relatively common sense, a trick question or two could be thrown in...just read carefully, think clearly and be thorough. Restudy this evening and again tomorrow if you feel you need to...don't be nervous, you'll do fine.

Good luck

most of the questions are about your states driving laws, go to the motor vehicles website for your state and see if they have any links to help you. You should have gotten a booklet to help you study. They can be obtained at your DMV. You should read it before you schedule your test. Seeing that you havent already done that, you could just wing it. if you ahve drivien with anyone and paid attention to the signs and what they have done you will probably pass the test. The driving part of the test is a little harder seeing that you have to actually drive with the person that scores your test. Good Luck!

You only have to answer 15 out of 20 questions correctly, it's not hard. Just read your drivers handbook tonight, you'll do fine. There's no reason to be uptight about it, have you ever looked around while riding somewhere with your parents? They'll give a license to ANYBODY these days. You take your written test, then they make you breathe on a mirror. If it fogs up, you get a license.

I don't think there are too many free tests though. Good luck tomorrow. Study the road signs and speed limits. Also remember that if it sounds right, it probably is right.

here in north carolina you were allowed to miss 3 questions and a lot of the questions were based on situations. Like what would you do if....
and some had pictures.
basically just simple driving stuff.
if you got like a book from your driver's ed class and you have read over it you'll do fine.
