Not with silver nitrate. But sugar reacts with lots of stuff. If you have a fume hood, mix about 30 ml of concentrated sulfuric acid into an equal amount of sugar. Black char and mucho acrid smoke.

Recognize that sugar is an organic compound. So you’d expect it to react with other organic compounds. For instance your body converts sugar into a substance called glycogen.
