Ever since my best friend started going out with this guy, she has not been answering my calls and ignoring me. A few Saturdays ago she invited me to go skating only to not be there at the last minute.
Her boyfriend abuses his sister and blames everyone around him for not having a job. My friend spends all of her money on him and constantly cancels plans she had with me.
I've been trying to ignore her and it's not gotten any better. Will this last forever or should I still have some hope? I've known her for 15 years. Thank you.

i had many friends that have done that too me. most of the time it's just because it's a new relationship and they want to spend as much time together as they can. then they forget about what their friends are feeling. most of the time it will go away while the relationship progresses. i'd give it at least 3 to 6 months. if it doesn't go away i would sit down with your friend one on one. phones off and no one there to bother you. tell her how you feel and tell her what she has been doing.

Because he is abusive, it sounds like one of those "ploys" to isolate her from her friends. He could be working on getting her away from her family as well, or that is next. Your friend needs to be kept safe-he has a definite anger problem, and needs to realize that he is responsible for his own feelings. He needs to take an anger management class or something. She may be afraid of him, and if/when you get a chance to be alone with her, let her know she can/should call 911 for any emergency, the cops will come-but don't pay games with it. Also, she needs to break it off with him, even with the help of a restraining order if needed. Take care.

Have you tried talking to her? Sounds like this guys a jerk. Tell her how you're feeling she probably won't dump him but she may pay more attention to how she's making you feel.
