ok ok....I'm reading these answers and none of them quite fully answer your question.....so I'm gonna explain Goalkeeping in a nutshell for you....

1. Be able to play in every position.....(believe it or not, goalies can play in every position on the field)
2. Well height is kind of a given.....but you might be able to do it....if you have great....and I mean GREAT jumping abilities....
3. Have great reflexes.....(because great reflexes is what makes the difference in getting scored or not)
4. Know that your whole body makes the goalkeeper, not just your hands....(great goalkeepers can save goals not only with their hands, but also with their feet, head, shin, thigh, butt, nose, EVEN fingernails)
5. Always have eyes behind your head....what I mean by this is....always be aware of where your goal is.....sometimes keepers lose their position and makes it easy for forwards to score on you
6. Know that a goalkeeper without luck is not a true goalkeeper.....(ever seen those imposible shots that hit the posts and go out of bounds?.....there's your luck)
7. Be fearless
8. Now this is the last but most important part of being a keeper....you have to be insane.....(keep in mind I dont mean this literally).....but think about it....you are the last line of defense of your team.....the last hope for your team....so much responsability rests in your hands....one single mistake can cost your team a loss...its only you and your soul under the goal....nobody else....(that's why they call goalkeepers "alone and insane")

So if you think you have all these qualities....then you'll make a great keeper.....

Hope this helps!!!

I used to be forward, I actually was for eight years and my freshman year in soccer our goalie got injured during practice and I had never before played goalie but the team trusted me and I became goalie and won state for our team and we didn't lose a game that season. It sounds hard to believe but it's true and all you need is good reflexes and you can't be afriad of a couple bumps and bruises. Believe in yourself, get pumped up before a game because if oyu're not pumped up then you won't have much faith. Only sleep for seven or eight hours because after that you get into your comfort zone and you'll be tired the rest of the day which slows your reflexes. Your height doesn't matter so much because if you have good leg muscle you can jump higher. I have a boost because I'm 5'7 but I'm a girl and I do just fine. Good luck!

Find an older goalie to mentor you. If you can't find a mentor, ask a friend to go down to the soccer field with you and work on basic moves. The most important skill to master as a goalie is being able to dive to your side, roll on your hip, and pop right back up to ready position. A good friend can tap balls to you from side to side to you can work on that fundamental skill. Agility is your best friend.

u just need to practice with soccerballs flyin at you.i know cuz i am a girl and play every position on my team and a famous goalie in my league. not only that but u need to learn to punt or throw the soccer ball and learn to get on the ball. dont always depend on defense to protect cuz they dont always.( i know cuz it always happens to me) always keep movin. nove side to side. but remember never catch it and step back cuz if you do and ur in the net it counts.
