Look into state run nursuries. I know you can get trees that are anywhere from 1 to 3 years old and they cost next to nothing. This program is very popular in indiana and they offer a large variety of trees any thing from walnut to spruce to butterfly bush.

check with ur state extention office, u can purchase trees in large lots for very little. some as cheep as 27 cents a tree.
