Wah.... you mean you only got your family pet dog for the Dog year of 2006???
So now what are you getting for 2007? A Pig????!!!
DON"T dump your dog just like that, at least try to find a good home for it - how old is it and what breed? If it is relatively young, healthy and a purebreed, you can always sell it. At least, hopefully there'll be a chance it'll go to someone who will truly care for it. Check with your vet, pet shops, local breeders, dog trainers etc to see if anyone wants a pet dog.
Alternatively, you could take a photo of it with your contact number and put it up on all the noticeboards at the various supermarkets - free.
You can also contact other local dog welfare groups for help. Google it.
Hope your kids don't jump dump you in an old folks' home in Tuas next time. What goes around, comes around...

I think you can buy a new pet (pig) but YOU SHLDN'T dump away your dog. It is very cruel. Even though, the trend nowadays are keeping a mini pigs, Many artistes and ladies are keeping mini pigs as their pets now but don't you ever forget that a dog is always the MOST faithful and loyal animal in the world.
Despite your dog is very loyal to you and you've the heart to discard him away just because you're going to have a new pet.
Think about it if your parents throw you out because they have a baby, do you feel utterly upset and disappointed.
And what is going to happen to your unwanted dog? Who is going to take care of him? Ever since young, he has been well-taken by you, thus it already has lost partially its instinct to carry on his own life. He may not know how to prey for food and has no shelter to stay under. When you buy the dog, you must have registered it under the government's regulations, that any dump pets will be severely punished.
Think about it yourself, do some self-reflection and think about the consequences if you dump your dog away. Your guilt is acting upon you and beware of retribution.

Your question already highlighted how irresposinble you are! If you really do not want your dog by all means give it to spca but you have a duty to ask around first if any other people would want your dog and would take him in! That would be a more responsible way since spca culls animals regularly when they have been there for quite some time.
