If you have a clamp on amp meter you can put it on the positive cable with the arrow pointing towards the starter. Have some one crank it over if it is drawing the max amp on you battery it is probably the starter. If you have a voltmeter you can check your battery voltage. If it is about 12 volts or more, have some one turn the engine over while holding the meter on the battery. If the voltage is around 10 to 11 volts and it is not starting it could be the starter. If the voltage while cranking is less than 9 or 10 volts or drops to a very low voltage then it is probably the battery. Also check your charging system out when you get your car started. Make sure you have your meter on D/C volts. If you have no way to test you battery you can take it to an auto parts store. Most of them can test batteries, starters and alternators. Corrosion on your cables can cause this problem too.

The battery light will come on anytime the ignition is on and the engine is not running. It sounds like the battery terminals are dirty. Replacing the battery will fix the problem, but new batteries tend to have clean terminals. Try cleaning the battery terminals on your old battery and if everything works fine after that your good to go. All you have to do is disconnect the two big wires going to the battery and scrub them off with a small wire brush and do the same to the battery post and reconnect the two wires. This won't cost anything and the battery will still be good for a very long time.

ok if it clicks usually ur starters ok, 9/10 times it your battery first,,, if ur car can me jumped by another car it's your battery... if it cant be jumped either one of two things is going on, eithe ryour battery is so dead (100 yrs old kinda thing) that it cant transmit any power at all... or your starters dead. now, your battery if it's new,,, could be dead becuase your alternator is dead too, this alternator replaces power back to your car while the car is on, this is done by a series of belts in your engine,,, creating friction into power, that recharges your battery while driving. this is only known by bringing it to a shop and having them test it,,, or if after putting a new battery in your car the battery dies shorty again,,, maybe a day or two,,, sometimes hours if ur driving continuously...

if it clicks when you turn your key then its the starter if you hear no click it would be the seleniod, but Im pretty sure all these new cars have the starter and selenoid built together. maybe even a rotted wire to the starter

Could be either one, try getting a boost. If it still turns hard maby the starter is dragging and drawing too much power.
