Maybe you should limit your question to people in your own country/state/city?
For example. I live in Sydney, Australia and pay $400 a week for a house. But if you put that data in the graph you have to describe what you are graphing. Are you going to say. Here are some rents from some random people from all over the world. What does that really prove. Try for something like: Houses and apartments in your city. Look in the newspaper ads and see what people are offering to rent their properties for.
Then you can say. These are the asking prices for houses and apartments for rent in the local paper on 30th Jan 2007. Something specific is more meaning full.
Hope this helps.

I used to have a house but had to relocate for my husband's work. Our house mortgage was $837 a month, built new in 2002. Our apartment we stay at now in is $649 a month. Can't wait to buy another house!
