I would definitely get 1024 MB of memory with Vista, it needs it. Slow computers get replaced sooner so you don't save money in the long run. I would also go with a duo core processor.

Windows Vista is very resource intense so the 512 will slow your system down, for only $50 to $100. more you can get a system that will have 1gb and a dual core processor, this will give you a little more power and it will make for a more stable system in the long run specially if you plan to just upgrade the memory it will run you about $100 for 1Gb, also I would try to stay away from a Celeron processor, even if is for someone that will not be using the system for intense applications, after 6 months of use, cached documents, cached applications and so on they will be complaining that the system is too slow. Acer has come a long ways from their over heating PC's. I would not say this is a good deal since you can right now get a Dual core PC, with 80 Gb of hard drive space and 1 gb of ram for about $649. There is a lot of good deals going around right now. Hope this helps.

Get a much better computer, like a Dell Inspiron. Look for deals and Vista Home Premium.
Do not get a Celeron, horrible experience.
Get an AMD Turion 64 or the new Core Duo chips. Al little more money but muich better. For Vista, get 1GB of Ram at least

Yea!!!, ignore those other people. Yea that's a really good deal, but look around a little before you buy(unless your getting it at the store). Not too familiar with acer but I heard them on the CES 2007 show i think. But yea if your using it for basic stuff like

1.little music
2.pics
3.HAVING A LAPTOP!!!
