I think a TRAC phone. No contract.Buy minutes when you need them.Icall it a good practice phone. You just have to put more minutes on when it says to.It will show up on the front of the phone. If you miss the date they will give you another number. There is no camera but it will be a great one until you get used to the responsibility and care of a phone.Your first one does not have to have everything on it.they actually look really nice.Have a look see.Have fun in sports and be careful.

It depends..my son is your age and I just got him a go phone from cingular. It is prepaid....25 cents a minute...$25 is 100 min and good for 3 mons. (You have to reload every 3 mons.) I did it this way just incase it got lost or stolen...stolen was my worry..some kids just get mean, ya know? Anything can happen.
They have all types of pre paid phones, even camera phones. Verizon has a good deal for pre paid too..and a free phone.
Blessings..

Anything from Virgin Mobile should be a great first phone. The rates are great for a beginner and the phones are so cool, they got several flip/camera phones.
check it out!

from my experience, the cheaper phones are much more durable than the expensive ones, and in many instances, have the exact same features. i paid $150 for a RAZR, my mother got the free phone that comes with signing a contract. both phones have exactly the same features. While I tiptoe around with my mildly expensive phone, my mother can throw, drop, and handle her phone as (un)gently as she likes, knowing that it cost nothing.

What is your carrier? Come on people! Help us out here!
No Motorolas. The only good Motorola is the V325i from Verizon.
No Kyoceras either. If you could add some details in your question like who your carrier is and what you want/price range, I could give you a really good answer.
