Who knows? They did catch that guy from Cali with the Taliban in Afgan... Yet the "shoe bomber" wannabe was either black or arab so who knows?

I speak as a Muslim who has seriously studied terrorism in an attempt to understand the mentality that leads one to such extreme and horrendous actions. After all, everyone talks to me about it at some point so best to learn as much as possible.
What people do not realize is that, while almost all Arabs are Muslim, less than half of the Muslims on the planet are Arab. Sadly, the call to warlike jihad is now showing up around the world in all countries. Home grown terrorists are not always Muslim.
However, none of us can accurately predict the future. We can only do our best to take care and try to make the world a safer place. All we can do is to attempt to live in harmony with all about us. Racial stereotyping is not the answer. Racial stereotyping creates prejudices. Prejudices give birth to and feed the cycle of anger and hopelessness that help create the mindset of a terrorist.
A short funny story about racial stereotyping that still makes me laugh. I am a older Canadian white woman who wears full hijab. When I was returning from Asia last summer, I was separated from all other travelers along with a few "Middle Eastern types" for "special attention." While they were questioning me and going through my luggage, all I was afraid of was that they would find the bottle of unpasteurized honey I had purchased in India. I noticed that everyone who could be Muslim was given "special attention" and yes, it did make me feel VERY special.
You cannot predict where the next attack will come from. I do not buy into the climate of fear that your government has been instilling in the American public but it is only common sense to know one is inevitable. America is just too unpopular a player on the world stage to avoid such pressure. But as to the race of the criminals involved, who can say? Muslims come in all nationalities and colours these days and the necessary diabolical information to create these devices are easily available to anyone with access to the net.
It is very possible to think that someone who has a vested interest in creating more chaos in the world could do such a thing then make sure all signs point to the Muslim world? Or perhaps make a deal with a member of the Muslim world to carry it off for him? Who is responsible in the second case? It could easily happen.
The only rule you can count on when it comes to terrorism is...
THERE ARE NO RULES. And that, my friends, is why it is called terrorism.

It is a battle of ideology, not race.
Radical ideas are not restricted toi those of Middle Eastern decent.
Perhaps... radical Islamics of the Caucasian race will come from Europe... which allows Muslims to come into Europe as fast as Mexicans come into the U.S.
Among the peacful are the Radicals.
And your theory is a probable one.

I suppose anything is possible in the realm of radical Islam. I'm just making a guess here though and I personally believe that it is most likely that it will be those of ME descent from one of the very many Mosques here in America. Since well before 1998, there have been many documented comings and goings by those who mean harm to the west, the best example probably being Sami Al-Arian and friends. They do have a very well organized network here, I can only hope that our law enforcement agencies are still paying very close attention to their activities.

No. My guess is they will be Middle Eastern looking men with Middle Eastern accents who adhere to the Muslim faith.
But mind you, that's just a wild guess.
